Butterflies
After reading the book Everybody Loves Butterflies by Tanis Taylor we began looking closely at butterflies. Looking at butterflies through the eyes of scientists and we discovered that butterflies:
- are insects with a head, thorax, and an abdomen
- have 6 legs (3 on each side)
- legs are attached to their thorax
- have 2 antennae
- have 2 pair of wings
- have a proboscis (which is like a straw that uncurls so that the butterfly can drink nectar from plants)
- have compound eyes
