How do honey bees change?
- The queen bee lays eggs in cells inside the hive.
- After 3 days, larvae comes out of the eggs. The larvae are fed 1300 times a day for about 6 days. As it grows, each larva sheds its skin many times.
- Inside the cell the larva spins a cocoon and becomes a pupa. At this time the entry to the cell is sealed with wax.
- It takes a queen bee 6 days to develop. Worker bees take 10 days to develop. Drones take longer than 10 days to develop.
- After about 3-4 weeks the bees leave the hive.
- Adult worker bees live about 6-7 weeks.
- Adult drones live a few weeks to 5 months.
- An adult queen bee can live up to 4 years.
