Today we'll be working with using our graphics tablets to draw the face of a lion.
Last week you used your graphics tablet to draw different shape elements.
This week we're going to put them together to draw the face of a lion. Carefully study the lion image (above) and look for examples of circles, dots, wavy lines, straight lines and angled lines. Talk about what you see with your partner.

- horizontal and vertical straight lines
- angled lines
- dots (filled circle shapes)
This week we're going to put them together to draw the face of a lion. Carefully study the lion image (above) and look for examples of circles, dots, wavy lines, straight lines and angled lines. Talk about what you see with your partner.
Then... Prepare to draw
- Open KidPix, bring up your grid - go to backgrounds > My Backgrounds and drag in your grid)
- Using your mouse select a thin black pencil
- Get your graphics tablet ready

- Find the center of your paper (workspace) - Plan for where to place your lion's eyes. What shape will you use for its eyes? Draw in the eyes.
- Look carefully at your lion's nose. What shapes do you see in the nose? Draw in the nose.
- Look at the lion's cheeks - what shapes do you see? Draw these in.
- Look at the lion's mouth - what shape elements do you see? Draw them in.
- Now look for the shape of the lion's face - what type of shape do you see. Draw it in.
- Finally look at the lion's mane. Look for the shape and draw it in.
- Now go back and add details.
